Kymar Acres - Kyle and Mari Holthaus
Kymar Acres is owned and operated by Kyle & Mari Holthaus, with a little help from Teddy (7) and Violet (5). Teddy is in 1st grade and Violet is in kindergarten and they both really enjoy gardening, especially the greenhouse work. Our farm is 15 acres located right in between Decorah and Waukon. We raise flowers, vegetables, herbs, and a flock of laying hens and have been with GROWN Locally since 1999.
The flowers, vegetables and herbs are raised, without any chemical fertilizers or insecticides, in an ‘organic’ manner; however our farm is not certified organic.
Our chickens are fed conventional feed but they are truly free range. In the months that are warm enough our chickens have run of a pasture set aside especially for them, mostly for their safety. They eat the grass and any bug unlucky enough to cross their paths and are rotated to another pasture when the grass gets to short. The eggs produced in such a way are the best tasting and have a much darker yolk color, along with thicker shells.
Kymar Acres is proud to be a member of GROWN Locally and helping to promote the benefit of local products to Northeast Iowa.
